Linda Pierce Gardner

Linda “Lyn” Pierce Gardner, age 77, died Saturday, December 1, 2018, after a long battle with Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia. She was born in New Castle, IN to the late Chester and Janice Maze.

Lyn was a graduate of Ball State University with a Bachelor’s degree and Webster University with a Master’s degree. In 1963 she married Gary Pierce and her first child, Chris was born in 1967. While Gary was enlisted in the Army, Lyn was active in the Jaceyettes and the Army Officer’s Wives organizations. Her second child, Malissa was born in 1971. The family moved to Florida in 1973 and to Myrtle Beach, SC in 1984.

Lyn worked in hospital administration and management throughout her life. She was the former CFO at the Drake Medical Center of Cincinnati, OH and the former Foundation Director at the Little River Medical Center of Little River, SC.

Five years after the death of her first husband, she met Harry Gardner of Florence, SC and they married in 2004. Harry and Lyn are active members of the First United Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach, SC and the church’s Open Fellowship Class.

Lyn was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Gary Pierce. She is survived by her husband Harry Gardner; her son Chris Pierce (Cynthia) and grandson Landon; daughter Malissa Church (Tony); her brother David Maze (Katie); her sister Sharon Morris; brother-in-law Jerry Gardner (Abby); and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00PM prior to services.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church’s TV Ministry, 901 N. Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.

Please accept my sincere condolence. May you find comfort through the Word of God. “He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces…” Isa 25:8. This promise will be accomplished by means of God’s Kingdom or government with His son Jesus Christ ruling as king (Dan 2:44).
