Jerry F. Baxley

Jerry F. Baxley, age 77, passed away December 21, 2018.  He was born August 8, 1941 to the late James F. and Bonnie Hall Baxley. 

He spent 48 years in the hotel industry beginning at the Washington Hilton in Washington, DC and concluded his career by owning hotels throughout the Midwest.  He proudly served his country in Korea and Japan.  He was an avid outdoorsman and was an animal advocate showing his love for many dogs.  After 32 years in Kansas he moved to Myrtle Beach and was semi-retired.  He was a member of the Trinity Church of Myrtle Beach.

He is survived by his wife of over fifty-one years, Diane Baxley; three children, Paul F. Baxley (Lisa) of St. John’s, FL, Jennifer White (Rick) of Columbia, MD, and Elizabeth Baxley of Gaffney, SC; two grandchildren, Sam White and Lydia White.  He was predeceased by his sister Jimmie Kennedy.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 28, 2018 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Florence, SC, with a memorial service following at 3:00 PM at Trinity Church in Myrtle Beach.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Church 3000 N. Kings Hwy., Myrtle Beach, SC 29572 or to All for Paws Animal Rescue, 708 Petigru Dr., Pawleys Island, SC 29585.

Jerry, I will miss having you along on my hunting trips, buddy. I'll never again hunt Coffey County, Kansas without thinking of all the great times we had down there. Rest easy, Pal!
To Diane & family, I'm so sorry Jerry has passed. He left us far too early. I know that God has you in his arms. Our prayers are with you.

Diane, We are so sorry to hear of Jerry's death. Dan and I enjoyed Jerry's sense of humor. He had a strong love for you and his family and the dogs! I am sure you have many wonderful memories.
