Arthur (Artie) Woodrow Tayloe, Jr., 75, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on September 1, 2020 after a courageous and hard-fought Battle with Colon and Lung Cancer. He was born in Rocky Mount, NC on January 22, 1945 to A. Woodrow and Marie (Worthington) Tayloe. He grew up and lived in Aulander, NC before moving to Myrtle Beach, SC.

Artie was a Graduate of Fork Union Military Academy, Fork Union, VA and was a 1970 Graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in Agri Business and was a Member of Pi Kappa Alpha Social Fraternity. He was a diehard WOLFPACK Fan!!!! Go PACK ...

While living in Aulander Artie was very active in the Community. He was a Board Member of Planters National Bank, Ahoskie, NC, The Bertie County ABC Board, Beechwood Country Club. He was owner of Savin and Hill Communications and Northeastern Grain and Fertilizer. When he moved to Myrtle Beach, he continued in the Cell business and was owner of Net Cell. In semi-retirement he loved helping his neighbor at the Tinderbox (although he never smoked), but he loved talking to customers from all over and developed many friendships. He and wife were long time Members of The Dunes Golf and Beach Club.

On March 20, 1971 he married the love of his life, Lyn-Sue Kennedy Tayloe of Rockingham, NC, who survives him, and they had 49 blissful years of marriage. To this union two wonderful children were born, a son, William (Will) Arthur Tayloe, II and wife, Kari Smith Tayloe of Pawleys Island, SC and daughter Courtney Lyn Tayloe Burgess and husband, Evan H. Burgess of Myrtle Beach, SC. Artie loved and enjoyed the most being Granddaddy to his precious babies who survive - William Arthur Tayloe, III, Woodrow Alexander Tayloe,  Edward Tayloe Windsor Burgess, and Frances Kennedy Hilliard Burgess, sister, Mary Jane Tayloe, and several nieces and nephews. Artie was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Elaine Tayloe Kirkland. The family would like to send special thanks to Tracy Hammond Gunter for her outstanding care.

Dear Lynn Sue, Courtney, and Will,

It was inspiring to see how hard Artie fought his disease. I’m sure his bravery is something that helps you as you grieve. You guys and the precious grands were great support for him.

I’ll never forget your wedding, Lynn Sue. It was clear from the beginning that you were a special match. It takes time to adjust to loss, and I hope that your happy memories will comfort you.

Much love,

I am so richly blessed to have know and worked with Artie for many years at the Tinder Box. He had such a wonderfully kind heart and I will forever remember him for his perfect example of what a true Southern gentleman is. Lyn and family, I know how much he loved you all. Mary and I are praying that you will find comfort from God's gentle peace at this time.
