William "Billy" Snipes

William “Billy” Snipes, 61, was surrounded by family as he passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Renee Lewis-Snipes. He was dog dad to Oscar, Macie, and Gracie.

Billy was the only son of Orville C. Snipes and Wilma C. Snipes, both of whom proceeded him in death. He was born in Ft. Mead, Md, 12 minutes after his twin sister, Sherri Dees (John). He is also survived by 2 other sisters, Susan Matthews Harper (Steve) and Becky Thompson (Ed); a niece, Patti Matthews, and nephews Brad Matthews (Patsy), Ethan Thompson (Meghan), and Benji Thompson. Billy also had many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Billy grew up in Fayetteville, NC and lived most of his adult life in Myrtle Beach. His wonderful smile, dark sense of humor, and hospitality formed many lasting memories and friendships. Billy’s favorite place to be was at home. You were only a guest once, after that you were family. He and Renee often had people over for cookouts, drinks, music, and splashing around in the pool.

A celebration of Billy’s life will be held sometime in the next few months.
