William Joseph Gann (Joe), age 84, of North Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on Tuesday January 18, 2022.
Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was born on July 2,1937 in Reidsville, NC where he graduated from high school and attended Elon College in Burlington, NC. Joe was a Sargent in the Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, NC and proudly served as a Medic until 1958.
Joe was married to Pamela on November 28, 1959, they were married 62 years.
Joe worked as a Programmer and Project Manager for AT&T for 33 years. After retiring from AT&T, he went back to school and began a second career as an Insurance Agent with Farmers Insurance. His most satisfying work and fondest memories came from his service at Manassas Baptist Church where he served as Chairperson of Building and Grounds. He also served as an Exalted Ruler with the Elks Lodge where he enjoyed working with many young adults assisting them with scholarships in higher education. Joe loved playing horseshoes and golf and anything sweet to eat.
Joe is survived by his wife Pamela P. Gann; their 4 daughters and their spouses, Peggy and Jim Rector, Jody McDaniel, Traci and Daniel Marcey, Marcie and Derek Marion; their grandchildren, Joseph Daugherty, Devin Daugherty, Aryn McDaniel, Megan Bobsin and husband Geoffrey, Daniel Marcey and wife Shelby, Cole Marcey, Kimberly Hicks and husband Dru and Heather Moore and husband Kenny; their great-grandchildren: Wyatt Knight, Savannah Marcey, Abigail Moore, Avery Moore, Elle Hicks and Kammi Hicks; and his sisters, Rose McKinney and Mary Anne Page.
Joe is preceded in death by his father, Sterling Webster Gann and mother, Maude Waller Windsor, his brother Billy Gann and sisters: Blossom Solseth, Becky Holt, Linda Allen and Treva Ward.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service until 3:30 at the funeral home
