Obituary

William (Bill) Duvall, of Myrtle Beach, formerly of Grasonville and Annapolis MD; beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on 18 October, at the age of 80.

Born in Annapolis, Maryland to Mareen Lee and Catherine E. Duvall, Bill excelled at tinkering with his cars and playing golf. He credits his first car with attracting the love of his life Mary Carroll (Jackson) Duvall whom he married on 02 May 1964 in Annapolis, MD. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Bill graduated from Annapolis Senior High School in 1962. He also served in the Army National Guard from 1966 - 1972 attaining the rank of Sergeant, and is a member of the American Legion Post 0296. He had a successful career in sales for numerous companies ultimately retiring from Champion Energy. In retirement, he began a custom golf club-making business that consumed his time between countless rounds of golf throughout his retirement. He was a member of Pine Lakes Country Club and Myrtlewood Golf Club. Bill leaves behind two children: Debra Lee Wistner (Steve) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and William Luers Duvall, Jr. (Romella) of Leander, TX. He had four grandsons; Stephen A. Wistner, II (Elizabeth), Brian W. Wistner, (Sarah), William L. Duvall, III, and David R. Duvall, two great-granddaughters, Lauren E. Wistner, and Madison L. Wistner, and one great-grandson, Stephen A. Wistner, III. He was predeceased by his brother Mareen Luers Duvall, Jr. (Melissa) of Vero Beach, FL. Bill also leaves behind his extended family of two nieces; Tamra Mills (Bill) and Debra Graves (Chuck), one nephew; Mareen Lee Duvall, III (Melanie), and brother-in-law Rude Jackson (Judy). His family and close friends were where Bill focused most of his love and attention, but he had a special place in his heart for his cars. He always regretted selling the car that helped him catch his beloved Mary; a 1939 Chevy Coupe. He always kept a keen eye out trying to bring it back to him. However, he made do with a steady supply of Chevy’s including a few favorites; a ‘55 Bel-Air convertible, a 2010 Corvette Z-51, and a 2014 Corvette Stingray. There will not be a memorial service, and Bill will ultimately be laid to rest in Annapolis, MD, where his family has been buried since before our Nation was founded when they landed on our shores in the 1600s.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to encourage donations in Bill's name to the Transplant Center Fund at the Medical University of South Carolina MUSC which incredibly extended Bill’s life by 13 years.
