William Michael Doolan, 94, formerly of Princeton NJ, passed away Saturday January 6, 2024 at NHC in Murrells Inlet SC.
“Bill” was born July 1, 1929 in Ashland PA. Son of Daniel Hugh and Madeline Long Doolin. He was predeceased by his first wife Grace Oros, late wife Dorothy Lupichuk, brother Daniel Doolin, sister Catherine Silvestri, and Step-daughter Dorothy Loffredo.
Bill served in the US Coast Guard during the Korean War. He later worked at General Motors, had an independent business as an Electrician, and worked briefly for Rider University. Bill retired from the Housing and Safety Department of Princeton University in 1992 after 16 years of employment. He and his wife Dorothy ran the “Getaway Club” at the University for many years providing adventure and great memories to the many members. He and Dorothy moved to Myrtle Beach in 2000 where they enjoyed traveling, golf, and spending time with friends. Bill was a wealth of knowledge, with a lifelong love of learning. He had many varied interests and hobbies throughout his life. He was an avid reader of history and enjoyed critiquing the daily newspaper. He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Myrtle Beach and a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was “Irish” to the core charming, quick with a joke or story and always the life of a party.
He leaves behind Daughter Kathleen DeBlois and her husband Noel, Step-daughter Bonny Caruso and husband Gerald all of Mercerville NJ: one sister; Annmarie Gaughan of Bloomsburg PA. and many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered with much love and remain sorely missed by all.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church of Myrtle Beach with internment at St. Michaels Church in Murrells Inlet at the convenience of the family.
