And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away. Revelations 21:4
Walter James Jr., born January 18, 1943 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the son of Walter James, Sr. and Thomasina Spivey James, was sent to his eternal home on February 17, 2025.
He attended Whittemore High School through 10th grade. He married the love of his life, Mary Magdalene Tucker James, in 1965. They were blessed with three sons, Voltaire Perkins James, Brian Anthony James, and Matthew Wally James. Walter worked at Hardees for 52 years and retired with an exemplary work record. Additionally, Walter liked to help others with landscaping and odd jobs. Faith was a very important part of Walter’s life. He was a Christian of strong faith, passion and commitment toward spreading joy to everyone he met. Selfless service was a priority in his life, always. It was impossible to spend even a small amount of time around Walter and not feel the joy he lived with every day. He was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His passing has left a void in the heart of his family, friends and many more whose lives were touched by him. Walter is survived by his two sons, Brian and Matthew, his four grandchildren, Paris James, Terryl Stevenson, Elaina Bria James and Marcus Anthony James; five great grandchildren, his sister Geneva, and the many people who considered Walter “like family.”
He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Thomasina, his son, Voltaire, and his sister Bertha Lee.
A celebration of life service will be held February 22, 2025 at 2pm at McMillan Small Chapel, 910 67th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.
Stilled now be every anxious care; See God’s greatness everywhere; Leave all to him in perfect rest; He will do all things for the best.
