Thomas Eric "Tommy" Perdue, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born in Roanoke, Virginia, on March 24, 1947, to Charles Perdue and Vera Bolling Perdue.
A talented and dedicated professional, Tommy was a licensed optician who owned and operated several Pearl Vision and Petland franchises. Beyond his work, he was a man of many passions. He was a lifelong and committed member of the Elks Club in Roanoke, where he forged lasting friendships. An avid golfer and traveler, he also had a deep appreciation for history. Tommy especially loved bringing people together and was known for his love of food and entertaining family and friends with warmth and hospitality.
Tommy's greatest joy was his family. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Kathryn Durham Perdue, and his brother, Richard Dean Perdue.
His memory will be cherished by his daughter, Cheyenne Perdue Walters, and her husband, Scott Walters. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Mitchell Walters, Chase Walters, and Lacy Walters, and his great-granddaughter, Olivia Walters. He is also survived by his cousins, Charles "Pat" Bolling and Philip Wayne Poff ; his sisters-in-law, Linda Steger and her husband Watts Steger, Margie Durham, and Susan Thompson; his nephew, Joseph Steger and his wife Tammy Steger; and his nieces, Whitney Ives and her husband Jonathan Ives, and Erica Simpkins and her husband Aaron Simpkins.
A memorial service will be held in Roanoke, Virginia, at a date yet to be announced.
