Thomas "Tom" William Davis

August 22, 1937 ~ May 14, 2026 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Obituary

Tom Davis passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 14,2026.   He spent his final moments surrounded by the love of his family.  He lived a life of adventure, hard work, discipline, fun, friendship and dedication to his family.

Tom was born in Newport, RI in 1937.  He lived in many places along the way, from Palm Beach to Florence to Charlotte.  But he found his home, in Myrtle Beach, once his toes hit the sand.  He attended Clemson University and played football for the famous Frank Howard.  He married Nancy, his wife of 55 years, in 1960.  Together they built a beautiful family, multiple thriving businesses and created a legacy through hard work and devotion.

Tom was a programmer and data processer for both IBM and Duke power.   Notably, he is responsible for bringing the first IBM computer to Horry County, SC.   Tom was a loving husband and inspired his wife Nancy to delve into the world of real estate, always supporting her every step of the way.  Together they invested in commercial and residential properties all along the Grand Strand.

Tom loved to travel.  He and Nancy took over 24 trips to places around the world and 32 trips to the Bahamas.  We can say this with accuracy, because Tom was an analyst and loved numbers and loved to tell us his stories!

Tom believed in giving back.  He was devoted to his community and was part of many civic and charitable organizations.  He was most proud of being a 32 degree Mason and Shriner.

Tom took great pride in mentoring young athletes.  He coached Little League football for 8 yrs, ultimately winning the Horry County Championship.  He was especially proud of this win, because his youngest son Steve was on the team.

Tom is survived and will be forever loved by his three children, Thomas Davis, Jr.(Donna),  Pam  Guthrie (Tim), and Steve Davis; His 3 grandchildren Dwight, Taylor & Ruthie; and 2 Great Grandchildren Amelia & Gracie.  He leaves a legacy of a life well lived, that will be held dearly in our hearts and minds always.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family also encourages everyone  to honor his memory by showing an act of kindness to someone in need.
