Thomas Guthrie Beckham, born February 20, 1951, passed away on November 10, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family.
Tom was the beloved son of Francis (Frank) Morgan Beckham III and Anne Bell Beckham, and was predeceased by his brother, John Dewey Beckham. He is survived by his daughters Tina Beckham Ammons (and son-in-law S. Michael Ammons Jr.) and Ashley Beckham Burns (Guy E. Eccher); his cherished grandchildren Petty Officer Grant Michael Ammons, Victoria (Tori) Joy Ammons (fiancé, Senior Airman Derrick M. Bean), Colten Thomas Burns and his lifetime love, Carol Gray Beckham. He is also survived by his brothers Frank (Linda) Beckham IV and Warren (Kym) Beckham, sister-in-law Sharon Beckham Lowe, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
A proud graduate of Myrtle Beach High School, Tom went on to attend Wingate University before answering the call to serve his country. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps Reserve as part of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit. His dedication to service continued through his work with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) at the Columbia Field Office, and later as a Patrolman with both the Myrtle Beach Police Department and the Horry County Police Department.
Tom’s love of the outdoors was unmatched—he was an avid fisherman and hunter who found peace on the water and joy in nature. He shared his passion as a deep-sea fishing charter captain, introducing countless others to the thrill of the ocean.
Above all, Tom will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family and his unconditional love for animals. His warmth, humor, and steadfast spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
His legacy of service, love, and adventure will be carried forward by those who were blessed to call him husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home Chapel in Myrtle Beach at 2:00 PM. Family will be accepting friends and family at 1:00 PM before the service.
