Tasha Deneen Obituary

Tasha Brooke Deneen, 36, the beautiful daughter of Steve and Denise Deneen and sister to Tessa Deneen, passed peacefully into God’s arms surrounded by her family on Friday, August 19, 2022, in Dallas, Texas. She passed away from a pulmonary embolism caused by a brain infection and brain cancer. She was born on August 9, 1986, in Hagerstown, Maryland. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by great-grandparents, Orion and Virginia Hendrickson, Grier and Emily Scriever, Sara Jane and Harry Deneen; grandmother, Catherine Hendrickson Kauffman; grandfather, George Robert Lyles Jr.: step grandfather, Charles Kauffman; grandmother,  Dorothy Deneen Green; grandfather, Sheldon Deneen; and step grandfather, Stanley Green.

She was a member of the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Williamsport, Maryland, where she was an active volunteer for over 12 years working in the Sunday School, Children’s Church, Bible School and with Mr. Bob Oates She also volunteered with the dementia patients at an area nursing facility and a teacher’s aide. She worked with at-risk youth in after-school programs in South Carolina.

She attended schools in Hedgesville, West Virginia. She graduated from St. Maria Goretti HIgh School in Maryland in 2005. She was a four-year varsity tennis and basketball player. She was awarded the most Outstanding Girls Tennis and Basketball Player. She was the guest speakerof the Mid-Maryland Camp and was awarded multiple MVP and all tournament team awards. She was awarded numerous all area team, all city team, and all county team awards and received the Joseph Rulewich Memorial Award in 2004-2005. She attended Hagerstown Community College, 2006, in Maryland, on a full athletic scholarship. She was awarded the first team JNCAA and the first team all-region JUCO in tennis. She attended LaSalle University in 2007, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a full athletic scholarship. She was on the USTA circuit, instructor at the Philadelphia indoor tennis center, and participated in the A10 NCAA conference championships for 2 years. She was a gallery assistant at the LaSalle Art Museum and Philadelphia Art Museum.

She attended Coastal Carolina University, Conway, South Carolina, from 2009-2010 and graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts. Her artwork portfolio of Abstract Expressionism was displayed in 2010 at the Randall Bryant Art Museum. She was also a writer and art influencer for the Tempo Magazine at CCU. Also, Horry Georgetown Technical College, Esthetic Certification, 2013. Throughout her short life she worked as a physical therapy technician at the Physical Therapy Association from 2004-2006 in Maryland. She was also a fitness coordinator at HCC in 2006 in Maryland. She offered tennis instruction from 2006 to 2013 in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida and South Carolina . She was an artist and also an esthetician from 2013 to 2016 working at various health and wellness centers, and dermatology clinics. She previewed her artwork in various galleries and expositions in Florida,
She fought her first brain tumor in 2016, and from 2018 until her death, she was an Artistic consultant for Low Country Mission, LLC interior designing/remodeling company. Her absolute love for life, her passion for painting, traveling, art history, fashion, candle making,
jewelry and nail designing.

Her second Celebration of Life will be held at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, 910 67th Ave. N, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

The Tasha Brooke Deneen Foundation was created in her memory. In lieu of flowers any memorial donations can be made to the foundation by mail, to the address of 157 Barclay Drive, Myrtle Beach, 29579.
