Stephen David Sassi

Stephen D. Sassi, 60, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and his amazing caregivers, Lisa and John, following a courageous six-year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Steve faced ALS with incredible strength and determination, remaining strong until the very end. He rarely complained and continued to put his family, friends, and clients first. He is survived by his daughter, Lauren, and her husband, Jacob, of Myrtle Beach; his three beloved grandchildren, who were the light of his life; his son, Matthew, of Arizona; his mother, Elaine Sassi, of Middletown, New York; his brothers, Robert Sassi of Pine Bush, New York, and Norman “Marti” Sassi of Goshen, New York; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who became family. He was predeceased by his father, Charles M. Sassi, who also bravely battled ALS.

Known to his childhood friends as “Breeze” and “Sas,” Steve was truly the life of the party. He was always smiling and had a gift for making everyone he met feel important. He loved to entertain, and his legendary Christmas parties brought together the people he loved most. Steve loved to travel, including trips with Matthew to various baseball games, and enjoyed Naples, deep-sea fishing, the beach, golfing, and bowling. He was an avid golfer and a member of a bowling league at Myrtle Beach Bowl. A devoted Boston Red Sox fan no matter what, he also loved his Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. He was known for making the best Moscow mules and spicy margaritas, loved good Italian food, and could cook a mean filet mignon.

For more than 25 years, Steve was a well-known and highly respected real estate broker and the owner and broker of Myrtle Beach Premier Properties. To Steve, real estate was about people. He built lasting relationships, turning clients into friends and friends into family. He was also a proud member of the Rotary Club of Carolina Forest Sunrise, volunteering at community events including the adaptive surf & bike project, and the community kitchen. Giving back, showing up, and making people feel valued were simply part of who Steve was.

Steve’s warmth, humor, generosity, and larger than life personality left an unforgettable mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His smile, laughter, stories, friendships, and countless memories will live on in all who loved him. And we know he is now resting in the sun, playing all the golf he wants, and making everyone around him enjoy life a little more just like he always did.
