Stephan Kopanycia

Stephan Kopanycia (Kope) passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2023 at home in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline (Henry) Kopanycia for 52 years. The devoted father of Stephan H. Kopanycia; father-in-law of Jennifer (Houppert) Kopanycia; adored grandfather of Sophia and Isabella Kopanycia.

He was born in Ukraine; predeceased by his parents Wasyl and Magdalenya (Datkun) Kopanycia; his brothers Makar, Menco and Bohdan Kopanycia. He is survived by his sister Zenia Kopanycia; sister-in-law Dorothy Kopanycia and several nieces and nephews.

Stephan was employed by Mercer County Board of Social Services for 32 years; first as a Social Worker, then as a Social Work Supervisor.  Upon retirement, he and Jackie moved to South Carolina.

Steve will be remembered for his larger than life persona; his love of life; singing, especially Ukrainian songs; golf, soccer and football. His greatest joy was his family and being “Papa” to Sophia and Isabella.

Arrangements are private and under the directions of McMillan-Small Funeral Home, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
