Sarah Johnson (Van Hook) Medcraft

Sarah Johnson Medcraft, 90, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023.

She was born March 19, 1933, in Fuquay Varina, NC a daughter of the late Quinn and Maude Barker Van Hook.  She attended Fuquay Springs High school and Wake Forrest College.  She grew up and spent her early adulthood in Fuquay Varina, NC, where she was involved in her church, played the organ and owned a clothing store.  She later moved to Raleigh, NC and lived there until 1976. She relocated to Myrtle Beach and continued to pursue golf and was involved in the Dunes Golf and Beach Club.  She also loved to watch sports, entertain, cook, decorate for the holidays (which she loved very much) and shop. Sarah was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach. In her later years, one thing was for certain, she always enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

 She is survived by her two sons, Donald Johnson and wife Patricia and Tim Johnson and wife Brenda, two grandchildren Neil E. Johnson and wife Caroline and Christopher Johnson;  two great-grandchildren, Caroline and Carson Johnson, two step-grandchildren, Amber Nicole Powell (Rob) and Nicholas Powell, two nieces and  two nephews.  Sarah was predeceased by her second husband, Victor "Chuck" Medcraft and her first husband, Neil R. Johnson.

The family will receive friends at McMillan-Small Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM Tuesday, March 28, 2023.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 29th at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Fuquay-Varina, NC.
