Sandra "Sandy" Ann Twigg

Sandra Bruner Twigg (“Sandy”), 86, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on June 3, 2026, at her residents.

 Born on April 3,1940, in Cumberland, Maryland, Sandy was the daughter of the late Ursula & Joe Bruner.  She graduated from Allegany High School in Cumberland Maryland, and in 1960 married her high school sweetheart, Theodore W. Twigg Jr.

 As a devoted military wife for more than 20 years, Sandy proudly supported her husband throughout his military career, raising their family while embracing the challenges and adventures of military life.  Her strength, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family were evident throughout her life.

Sandy later retired from the Horry County School district, where she worked as a school cafeteria employee. She enjoyed baking, knitting and crocheting, and found great joy in creating handmade Afghans for family members and friends.  She also made lap blankets and adult bibs that she donated to local nursing homes, touching the lives of many through her generosity and kindness.

In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Theordore W. Twigg Jr., and her sister, Carol Joe Bowman.

She is survived by her three daughters Karen A. Pierce (Bryan) of Myrtle Beach, S.C, Rebecca Twigg- Roth of Sandusky, Ohio and Kim Rubenzer (Scott) of Brookfield, WI. She is also survived by four Grandchildren; Darr Strait, Kristen Mathews, Jed Roth and Jeremy Pierce. Six Great Grandchildren; Drake Strait, Emma Grace Mathews, Harper Mathews, Ridley Pierce, Crowley Cheuvront, Drystan Cheuvront.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway, SC. 

Sandy will be remembered for her loving heart, devotion to her family, and many handmade gifts she shared with those she loved. Her kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
