Samuel Simpson Duffy, Jr (“Sam”), age 83, passed away on April 8,2026, in Conway, South Carolina.
Born on November 4, 1942, in Columbus County, North Carolina, while his parents were visiting relatives, Sam was the son of Ella and Samuel Simpson Duffy, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Wampee, South Carolina, where he built a life rooted in hard work, family, and community. He was of Baptist faith.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents; his oldest sister, Mary Frances Dennis; and his niece, Melissa Williams.
He is survived by his loving sister, Helen Duffy Sizemore; his daughters, Jada Duffy(James Wilson) and Jerrica Duffy; and his cherished grandchildren, Brooklyn, Markel, Ella Juwell, Micah, CJ, Macie, and Mila.
He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him.
Sam was known for his passion for roller skating. An avid skater, he traveled across the United States in search of the perfect rink, often impressing others with his skill and being invited to demonstrate his abilities.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Sam continued working up until the time of his passing. He was an auto mechanic, used parts salesman, and proud owner of Sam’s Wrecker Service. He had a talent for finding value in things others overlooked and took pride in his work.
Sam lived life on his own terms and often said that if he didn’t live another day, he had already lived a great life-a sentiment that reflects the fullness with which he lived.
A viewing and visitation will be held at McMillan-Small Funeral Home on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, followed by a graveside service at Stephens Cemetery at 4:00 PM.
