Ronald Thomas Fife, better known as Tommy to all those except telemarketers, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2021. Born in Bluefield, West Virginia on February 6, 1952 to Virginia Anne Akers Fife and Thomas Eugene Fife, Tommy was the life of any room he found himself in. After watching Archie Manning play in one of the first primetime televised football games ever, he decided to attend college at the University of Mississippi where he joined the Kappa Alpha Order.
Tommy epitomized what it meant to be a great role model and family man. From shagging with his wife and listening to beach music, to tossing football with one son and building Legos with the other, to watching late night westerns with his grandson Everett and tea parties with his granddaughter Scarlett, he lived to love his family. He was also an avid college football fan, supporting his Ole Miss Rebels, the Virginia Tech Hokies, and The Citadel Bulldogs.
He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 40 years, Beth Willard Fife, son Kyle Glen Fife and girlfriend Emily, son Rhett Thomas Fife and his wife Sherrie, grandsons Everett Thomas Fife and Callum Rhett Fife, granddaughters Scarlett Anne Elizabeth Fife and Ida Camille Templeton Fife, his beloved sister Debbie Fife Quesada and her husband Ray, special uncle Rusty Fife and wife Clara along with daughter Lisa, Aunts Phyllis Giaforcaro and Margaret Akers, nephew Jayson Quesada and his wife Ashlee along with daughter Caydence, niece Ashley Willard and her husband Justin Mathis, brother-in-law E.G. Willard and wife Karen, along with numerous other family members including Linda, Larry, Gary, Melissa, Carlena, Barbara, Karen, Gayla, Timmy, Drexel, Mark, Keith, Barry, Susie, Edmund Lee, Becky, Pat, Kim, Beth, Greg, Barbara, Charlotte, Vickie, Roy Keith, Joe, Brenda, Paula, Sandie, Robin, Tammy, Jan, and Timmy.
Donations can be made to the Special Olympics (Horry County Special Olympics, PO Box 51872, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579 or support.specialolympics.org) in honor of his late mother, who taught special needs children.
By his request, there will be no visitation and only a small family gathering. He requested that you have a toast on the beach and get some sand in your shoes.
