Ronald Miller Obituary

Ronald Lee Miller, 76, passed away on October 31, 2021 after a lengthy illness at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family that loved him very much.

Ronald was born in Ironton, Ohio and was the son of the late Ray and Dorothy (Hutchinson) Miller.

He was married to the love of his life, Lana K. (Damron) Miller; father to Rhonda and (John) Neal; sons, Todd E. Miller and Shawn A. Miller; grandfather to Courtney (Michael) Maier, John Davd (Stephanie) Neal, Brooke Miller, McKenzie Miller, Jacon Miller, Hannah (Steven) Isaacs, great-grandfather to Adalynn and Lacie Neal, Samuel Maier, Mylah, Steven Isaacs.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant son, Ronald Lee Miller, Jr.; son-in-law John D. Neal, II; sister, Delores Sturgill; brother-in-law, Clyde Sturgill; brother, Donald Miller; sister-in-law, Carolyn Miller; brother, John Miller.

Ronald was a 1963 graduate of Decatur Washington High School.  Where he was named valedictorian of his class.  He went on to receive his master’s degree at Ohio University of Athens, Ohio.  He started his teaching career at Hanging Rock Elementary and from there he went to Rock Hill High School systems where he taught junior and senior high.  He also coached football, basketball, and track.  His love for his students and athletes has stayed with him through the years.

He was of Baptist faith and was a member of the Gideons International of Ohio for many years.  After retirement he taught part time at the Ohio University Branch.

He enjoyed listening to his oldies music, going to classic car shows, and he was an avid sports fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds.

His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his great-grandchildren and if you knew him, you know he had a love for people and cracking his corny jokes.

He will be greatly missed by his family, extended family, and a host of friends, to many to mention.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on November 20, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Ironton, Ohio.
