Roberta Landis Steele was born January 21, 1938, passed August 26, 2023 to the late Robert & Jean Landis from Marion, NC. She was immersed in the construction industry all of her adult life ultimately accomplishing the following feats: NC Licensed New Home Sales Consultant, General Contractor both residential and commercial in NC, and eventually rising to the status of a Division President for Dobson Builders in Charlotte, NC in the 1990’s. Additionally, she worked with the famous John Crosland Group out of Charlotte in the late 1980’s and went on in the early 1990’s to become a Sales Manager with Fortis Homes out of King, NC.
She is survived by her son Earle Steele and his wife Tonya, her daughter Virginia Jenkins, her two sisters Nancy Plaster from Hickory, NC and Joanne Harvey from Nebo, NC. She also has grandchildren Seth Steele, Travis Jenkins, Chelsea DelGuercio and Kelly Booher.
Bobbie attended Peace College (Raleigh, NC) and Marion High School (Marion, NC) graduating from both. One of her most astonishing educational feats was when she uprooted her work life in 1993 to go into the Peace Corp in Jamaica to assist a paper factory in White Hall Bay training the factory workers in the plant during her tenure. Made a number of friends in Jamaica while on tour.
Hobbies included being a lifelong NFL football fan most recently having Carolina Panther Season tickets from the start of the franchise’s history. Other hobbies including traveling the world with stops in Africa (Month long safari), Australia, Spain, England, France and a number of other European countries. Bahamas being one of her favorite destinations.
Her charismatic charm and personality will be sorely missed by all family and friends. She never met a stranger. She was a “one of a kind” remarkable human being that will never be forgotten.
In that she has always been a Christian she is now in God’s hands.
Rest in Peace Bobbie.
