Robert “Rob” Sherman Walton, age 59, of Conway, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026.
Rob was born February 16, 1966, in Rhode Island to Carol Walton and the late Johnny Walton.
Rob graduated from North Attleborough High School, Massachusetts, and went on to proudly serve in the United States Army, retiring honorably after his military career. His
service reflected his deep sense of duty and commitment to others.
In later years, Rob discovered a love for painting, which became both a source of joy and ameaningful way to cope with PTSD. He was actively involved in the local arts community,
serving as president of the Waccamaw Arts & Crafts Guild and playing an integral role in thefounding of Gallery 320, helping create opportunities for artists to share their work.
Rob was a larger-than-life personality who made people laugh easily. He loved spendingtime outdoors and with family, especially fishing, gardening, traveling, attending Wounded
Warrior events, and kayaking with his wife. He was a man of deep faith in God, which guided his life and gave him strength through difficult times.
Rob is survived by his loving wife, Signe Walton; his children, Justin, Heidi, and Michael. His daughter-in-law, Tiffany; his beloved grandchildren, Lillie and Oliver; his mother, Carol
Walton; his brothers and sisters; and his extended family both in the United States and in Norway. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, fellow veterans, and his neighbors.
Rob’s life was defined by service, resilience, creativity, faith, and love for his family.
A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 7, 2026 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, with Military Honors.
