Robert “Bob” Anthony Cooper, Jr., 76, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
He was born November 1, 1949, in Hendersonville, NC to the late Robert Anthony and Nina Lynette Cooper. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Ann Cooper Thomas.
Bob was a proud veteran and Bronze Star recipient who honorably served his country in the United States Army. He attended Montreat-Anderson College following his athletic passion as pitcher for their baseball team. He later graduated from Appalachian State University. Bob proceeded to build a long rewarding career as a restauranteur, and after moving to Myrtle Beach, he owned and operated Sam Snead’s Grille on Restaurant Row.
He will mostly be remembered for his love of cooking, sports, music, nature, friends, and unending devotion to his family.
Bob leaves behind his loving wife, Dorothy, devoted son, Corey, cherished grandchildren, Caiden, Corey Anthony, Camden and Nailah. Surviving in addition are his brother, David Cooper (Linda), sister-in-law, Julie Doty (Doug), brother-in-law, Doug Thomas, and nephews and niece, Brad, Andrew, Lawson, Rob, and Carol.
A Celebration of Life will be held at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach, SC on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
Family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until the time of service.
