It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Powalie, a man of boundless faith and family values.
Robert (Bob) W. Powalie, age 84, passed away December 26, 2025, with his family beside him, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Bob was born July 24, 1941, in Euclid, Ohio, and the son of late August Powalie and Louise Weybrecht Powalie.
Bob finished Catholic High School in Ohio, and he proceeded on to Barber School. He went on to own a barber shop, and following that was part owner with his brother John, of a Convenient Food Mart. In 1984 Bob and wife Jennie along with their 4 children moved to Myrtle Beach, SC in search of sunny warm weather, and took ownership of a dry cleaner business that was appropriately named by them, Sunshine Cleaners. Through faith, strong work ethic, and commitment, Bob and Jennie turned their new business into a successful operation that allowed them to provide for their family and to enjoy life together. Bob was always committed to God and Faith in the Catholic Church, and he led by example in raising his family in the same manor.
Bob was proceeded in death by his parents August and Louise Powalie and his sister Mary Powalie.
He is survived by his wife Jennie (DeAngelo) Powalie and their four children, Carl Powalie and wife Janice, Laura Haney and husband Ricky, Keith Powalie and wife Jeanine, and Erik Powalie and wife Brenda, all of which lived near to Bob and Jennie in Myrtle Beach and gathered often. Bob is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, Andrea, Sara, Kaitlyn, Rebecca, Michelle, Danielle, Anthony, Joseph, Olen and August, along with 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his three brothers and 2 sisters, Marge Volin, Marleen Tomko, John Powalie, Jerry Powalie, and Jimmy Powalie.
Bob’s love for God and family was evident throughout his life. Together with his wife Jennie, they provided a pure life of faith, enjoyment, and family values. His love of the water provided him with peace, and he shared this peace with his family and friends through boating and waterside gatherings.
Bob was the perfect example of what a husband and father should be. He guided his family to stay strong in Faith and Love, and how to enjoy life. All of Bob’s family members and friends will deeply miss his presence.
At the family’s request, there will be a Mass Service at Our Lady of the Sea Catholic Church in North Myrtle Beach on Friday, January 2, 2026.
