Robert L. Oldaker, 90, was called to his eternal rest in Christ his savior on May 25, 2021, at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital after a long battle with kidney disease.
He was born May 2, 1931, in Akron, OH, to the parents Walter L. and Thelma Ruth Vineyard Oldaker. He was preceded by his parents, by his wife of 60 years, Joyce B. Oldaker, his son, Robert L. Oldaker II.
Bob was a graduate of Kenmore High School and a Korean War Veteran. He was a retired Firefighter of the city of Akron, OH and was the past manager of the Akron Fire, Akron Police and Akron City Employees Credit Unions. He is the Ruling Elder emeritus of Faith Presbyterian Church in Myrtle Beach. His particular love was to serve as an accompanist on the piano which he did for some 75 years in churches and for weddings. He obtained his private pilot certificate on retirement. He flew his own plane and volunteered for Angel Flight.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Sylvia Oldaker of Litchfield, SC; his sons, Lawrence (Kalynn) of Huron, OH and Eric (Nikki) of Clearwater, FL; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda; stepdaughters, Cynthia Harris, Pam McDill, and Cheryl Miller; eight grandchildren; elven great grandchildren; several nephews and a niece.
A funeral service will be 11:00 PM Monday May 31, 2021, at Faith PCA in Myrtle Beach, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of service.
Burial will be held in Akron, OH at Rose Hill Burial Park on June 4, 2021, at 12:00 PM and the family will greet friends two hours prior to the graveside at the chapel at Rose Hill Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, Bob desired those memorial contributions to be made to Faith PCA, 805 79th Ave. North, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.
