Obituary

Richard “Dick” James Reuss, 87, passed away, September 1, 2024, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

He was born December 10, 1936, in Crofton, NE, a son of the late Anna J. Goeken Reuss. Mr. Reuss was also predeceased by two sisters and four brothers.

Dick graduated from Yankton High School and joined the United States Navy serving his country for over the next twenty years on aircraft carriers and submarines and became a nuclear power instructor in New York. He was an avid reader of the Wall Street Journal, The Sun News and the Navy Times and was a huge history buff, watching the History Channel, The Alaskan Frontier and enjoyed touring battlefields whenever he could. On January 10, 1959 he married Darlene Hausmann and spent the next sixty-five years together with their family. After his career in the Navy ended, he became a CPA and was the CFO at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach for over fifteen years. He loved country music.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Darlene Hausmann Reuss of Myrtle Beach, SC; two daughters, Kimberly Reuss of Grayson, GA and Rochelle Kline of Dacula, GA; four grandchildren, Brett Kline, Landon (Kelly) Rowinski, Alex Kline and Madison Rowinski; two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Roman Rowinski; two sisters, Janet Kolich of Kansas City, KS and Benita Vessel of Independence, MO and many nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends Monday, September 9,2024, from 3:00-5:00 PM at McMillan-Small Funeral Home with a catholic prayer service to be held at 3:30 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Myrtle Beach, SC and burial with military honors will follow at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery in Myrtle Beach, SC.
