Richard Telford Hubbard, 89, of Myrtle Beach died Friday, January 2, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Mary Elizabeth Hubbard for 68 years.
He was born on March 27, 1936, in Marlboro County, South Carolina. He was the son of Vance Telford Hubbard and Richardine Whittington Hubbard. He worked for 39 years in education as a teacher and coach. He attended First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach. Richard was an active member of a men’s bible group for 28 years. Richard enjoyed walking at the beach, working in his yard, and socializing with friends and family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Richard Dean Hubbard and his wife, Kay of Altavista, Virginia and Jeffrey Van Hubbard and his wife, Gina of Myrtle Beach, six grandchildren, Rebecca Hayes (Zak), Richard Hubbard (Greer), Candice Hubbard, Tyler Hubbard, Rebecka Hubbard, and Bobby Griffin, one great granddaughter, Stella Kate Hayes and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 17, 2026, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home and Crematory, 910-67th Ave. N, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, 29572.
The family will be receiving friends immediately following the service.
