Rhonda Marie Johnson, age 61, of Myrtle Beach, SC passed away on October 11, 2024.
She was born on July 31, 1963 in Hartsville, SC where she stayed until 1985 before relocating to Myrtle Beach, SC. Once there, she worked as a waitress and bartender at various locations. Over the years she served thousands of locals and tourists, who all remember her vibrant and hard-working nature.
If you asked Rhonda her occupation, she would say she was a mother. She was a proud single mother to one daughter. She did everything possible to give her the best- whether it was sitting on the sidelines at sports events, working extra shifts to pay for school trips and birthdays, volunteering for field trips, or teaching her the basics of balancing a checkbook.
She was also a grandmother to 4, showing pictures of her grandchildren to everyone she met. She loved to spoil her grandchildren often. It was Christmas every time she visited, bringing enough toys to fill an entire house. Her favorite activities with her grandchildren were swimming together, crafting, and retelling them stories of her past.
Rhonda loved life. She was adventurous, honest, outspoken, generous, and unapologetically herself. She would talk to anyone, making friends wherever she went. She did not just make acquaintances with people; if she loved you, she loved you for life. That is evident from her multiple 45+ year friendships. She loved long rides in the car, traveling to new places, spending time at the beach, and blasting Fleetwood Mac on the radio. She loved Jesus and firmly believed that every hardship she encountered in life was for a divine purpose.
She was preceded in death by her precious mother, Mary Johnson, her father, Leslie Johnson, brother, William Johnson, and grandmother, Dorothy Sowell.
Rhonda is survived and greatly missed by her daughter, Riki-Leigh Harnish, son-in-law, Andy Harnish, and four grandchildren, Noah, Adella, Eden, and Remi Harnish. She is also greatly missed by her sister and brother-in-law, Lynne and Mark Stanley, brother and sister-in-law Randy and Tina Parnell, and nieces and nephews, Liz Tyner, Marcus Stanley, Corbin Faulk, Bryson Faulk, Elijiah McCormick, and Kimberly Carr.
