Obituary

Raymond Stuart Stahl, born May 18, 1961, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 5, 2026, in Conway, South Carolina.

Raymond was the beloved son of Alan S. Leibowitz and Sara A. Forbes, and a loving brother to Rebecca (Todd Heschl) Hoffman, Molly Leibowitz, and Cynthia Stahl. He was a devoted and cherished husband to Gail Fishman, and a proud uncle to Alan Hoffman (Jerry White) and Matthew Hernandez, whom he adored. Raymond was predeceased by his father, Sidney Stuart Stahl.

Raymond spent most of his life in Ambler, Pennsylvania, where he worked for The Borough of Ambler for many years and also at Corson’s Quarry. Known for his strong work ethic and deep-rooted loyalty, Raymond was a familiar and well-loved presence in the community he proudly called home for decades.

From a young age, Raymond was the life of every party. There truly wasn’t a person he couldn’t make laugh. His infectious sense of humor, booming laugh, and larger-than-life personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Raymond had a heart of gold and was an amazing friend, maintaining lifelong friendships with the buddies who meant the world to him.

Raymond loved the outdoors—especially fishing, hunting, and anything involving wildlife. He could often be found fishing in ponds all over, enjoying the peace of nature with a beer and cigarette nearby. His love for animals was especially evident in the bond he shared with his precious pup, Ellie Bean, who held a very special place in his heart.

Music filled Raymond’s home, with Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath constantly blasting in the background. His love for cars, good music, cold beer, and time spent with friends defined his happiest moments. Guitar in one hand and a beer in the other, Raymond lived life unapologetically and fully.

Although Pennsylvania was home for most of his life, Raymond embraced a new chapter in 2024, when he moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, alongside his sister Becky, Todd, and family. After finally selling his Pennsylvania home, Raymond fully settled into southern life—proof that nothing could slow him down.

Raymond—affectionately known as “Stayman Raymond,” “Winesap,” “Rain Man,” and “Ray Ray”—was truly one of a kind: a loving husband, devoted family man, loyal friend, and unforgettable soul. His laughter, kindness, and spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

"Regarding services, Raymond will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife, Gail at Har Zion Cemetery in Collingdale, Pennsylvania.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced."
