Phillip Sylvester Obituary

Phil Sylvester, 74, of Conway, SC, entered into the presence of his Lord and Saviour on Sunday August 1, 2021.  Phil was born and raised in Hartford, CT.

He graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1965. He then attended Evangel College in Springfield, MO for two years before deciding to enlist in the U.S. Air Force where he honorably served his country for four years. After his discharge from the Air Force he completed his BA in East Asian Studies at Central Connecticut State College in 1974. During this time he was able to travel to China as part of his studies. He then began mission work with Youth with a Mission, serving about 4 years in Hawaii and American Samoa.

Upon returning home he worked for BKM as the warehouse manager. In the early 1980's he attended the Computer Processing Institute in Hartford, CT and began a career as a computer systems analyst with Travelers Insurance Co. He continued his career working at Women's Specialty Retailing and then took a position as a consultant with TCA consulting before retiring in 2009.
Phil had a passionate love for people, especially his family and close friends. His counsel and wisdom were often sought by those that needed a listening ear. He always lit up the room with his enthusiasm and love of life. Most importantly he loved the Lord and lived a life in close relationship with Jesus. Even as his health declined, he never lost his desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus and words of praise were always on his lips.

He leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Nancy (Lampard) Sylvester and his son Andrew both of Conway, SC. His sister-in-law Dianne Hart and husband Walter of Springfield, TN. His brother-in-law Stephen Lampard and wife Cindy of Poway, CA. As well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.
