Peter J. "Pete" Pallassino, Sr. Obituary

Peter J. “Pete”  Pallassino, Sr., 79, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina passed away on February 9, 2024.

Pete was born in New York City to Giuseppe and Lucia Pallassino, who immigrated from Italy. This heritage was important to him as was the large Italian family that survives him.  Pete was the youngest of 6 children and was a colorful character. Pete proudly served his country in the Air Force before becoming a police officer for New York City at Fort Apache in the Bronx.  He loved walking the beat and it certainly gave him stories to share. He loved horses  and enjoyed attending and supporting his nephew’s race horses, once co-owning a horse called Sassy. Pete was passionate about sports.  After moving to South Carolina, his work in the insurance profession provided more opportunity to support all 4 of his children in their sports endeavors.  Pete coached baseball and soccer, leaving those kids with some memorable stories. He was a proud member of the North Myrtle Beach High School Booster Club. Those special times connecting with his children through athletics were important to him throughout his lifetime. He continued to support his grandchildren’s love of sports and could often be found in the stands cheering on Coastal Carolina, his son’s alma mater.  One of his favorite memories is the last family vacation that he was able to share with his children and 4 grandchildren in Disney World. Boy, did he love Disney! While he may have appeared tough on the outside, a trip to Disney World with his family showed his love for the Happiest Place on Earth. In his retirement, he became a social neighborhood presence.  He was never one to sit still for long. He played bingo, bocce (loved hanging out with the guys on the bocce court), cards, bowling, and attended church. His Catholic faith played a central role in his life.  To those who knew him well, he was always shopping and looking for a bargain. He would buy a Christmas present in June if the price was right, even if it wasn’t the right size! Pete enjoyed everyone he met and befriended, relaying their stories to his children regularly. At the center of his life was always family and that loyalty endured every day of his life.

Pete is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary and their 4 children; Anna (Scott), Donna (Dan), Peter (Georgia), James and his 4 grandchildren; Mckenna, Braeden, Raven and Jameson (the Flash as he called him).
