Pamela B Crutchfield was born at Conway Hospital and spent her life in Myrtle Beach alongside her Mother, Eunice Singleton and her father, Johnny Burroughs. She was the youngest of three, with two older brothers who passed earlier in her life. She was a daddy’s girl who could do no wrong. Her first word was Dada which was only the start of her very close relationship with her father. Her first memory is fishing with him at Brookgreen Gardens. He taught her how to drive sitting on his lap cruising down the boulevard in his bronze El Camino. Her mom always made sure she was dressed to the nines and she was voted best dressed for her senior superlative. As a kid she was quiet and loved to read. She remembers chasing down the ice cream truck, also known as the ‘hubba hubba man,’ to satisfy her sweet tooth that would live on into her adult years. Her favorite ice cream was chocolate and orange sherbet in the same cup.
She was a ‘summer girl’ with many of her greatest memories on the beach with her mom and friends. She loved watching soap operas, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Pamela always had her hair and nails done. She would wake up eager to put her makeup on, or what she called ‘putting her face on.’ Pam always had to be warm with extra layers and you would never find her without her shoes on. She came to love her solitude and found peace and quiet at her home in Myrtle Beach. The house carries many memories of her family's legacy and has been a place of comfort for multiple generations. She loved her animals but most of all she loved her kids and her grandkids ten times over.
Pamela is remembered by friends and family as someone who loved everybody. If you were her friend you were also her family. She was sweet and selfless and she always saw the best in things, or as she would say ‘It’s the pollyanna in me.’ She had a talent for figuring out solutions to the toughest situations. This came in handy as she ran the family owned restaurants for most of her life. Pamela was a library of knowledge. And although that library closed the day she left us, her great poise and generous spirit is an irreplaceable gift she gave all of us. Pamela's deep well of wisdom and love will hold us all as we continue to live on in her memory.
Survivors include her four children, Russ Stalvey, Blair Stalvey Dickerson, Catherine "Cat" Crutchfield Sidwell (Sam) and Clay Crutchfield and five grandchildren, Rivers, Drake, Paxton and Sailor Dickerson and their father, Briggs, and Lyric Stalvey.
May we remember her every time we ride the boulevard and smell the salty summer air.
