Nancy Carol Medlin, 69, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
Nancy was born on November 23rd, 1954, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She grew up in Bennettsville, South Carolina, before moving to Myrtle Beach in 1982. She dedicated 29 years of service to the Myrtle Beach Police Department, retiring in 2011 as a Detention Supervisor. In her retirement, Nancy cherished spending time with her family and friends. She had a passion for travel, going on many cruises, including a memorable journey to Alaska with her daughters. She loved the mountains and had a creative spirit, finding joy in painting ceramics and crocheting blankets. Nancy also loved sharing meals with friends and was known for her kind heart and dedication to helping others. Her church family was also dear to her, and she found great comfort in her faith.
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Medlin Jr.; her mother, Rosa Cook; her father, Jimmy Cook; and her granddaughter, Amber Goins.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Byrd (Charles) of Wallace, SC; and Sarah Kennedy (Scott) of Myrtle Beach, SC; her grandson, Jonathan Beggs (Diandra) of Myrtle Beach, SC; her granddaughter, Meagan Kennedy of Myrtle Beach, SC; four great-grandchildren and many extended family members.
