Minnie Patsy "Pat" McCusker Obituary

Minnie Patsy “Pat” McCusker age 82, died Friday afternoon, March 26, 2021, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Ms. McCusker was born in Mingo County, West Virginia on January 25, 1939, the eldest of six children born to the late Basil Bennie Howard, Sr. and Carrie Nancy Presley Howard.

She went to school in Princeton, West Virginia, and upon graduating from High School moved to Washington, DC to work for the Federal Government where she would eventually retire. Ms. McCusker began her career with the Federal Government working for the FBI, and later she went to work for NASA, Atomic Energy Commission, Social Security Administration, US Department of the Navy, US Geological Survey, and the Department of the Air Force. Ms McCusker was proud of her Government Service where she retired after 32 years. After retirement, she joined the private industry sector working for Aerospace Corporation.

Mrs. McCusker also developed a love and a passion for playing bingo where she made many friends. Ms. McCusker enjoyed traveling especially to the Bahamas.

Mrs. McCusker was preceded in death by her husband Francis “Frank” McCusker and her brother, Tim Howard of Princeton WV.

She has three daughters: Debbie Rodrigues of Knoxville, TN, Dena Rodrigues and her husband PJ Maggio of Marietta, GA, and Denise Meyer and her husband Stuart of Alpharetta, GA; four brothers, Basil Bennie Howard and his wife Joyce of Carrollton, VA, Jim Howard and his wife Cheryl of LaPlata, MD, Dwight Howard Sr. and his wife Christine of Canada, sister-in-law Ann Howard of Princeton, WV, and her sister Nancy Karen Howard of Nashville, TN.

Survivors also include three much loved grandchildren, Cameron Johnson and her husband Reed of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Preston Ehlers of Atlanta, GA, and Scott Meyer of Nashville, TN. She also has a much-loved daughter from her husband’s prior marriage Jeannette M. Wagner and her husband, Todd, of Hanover, MD, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive Mrs. McCusker. She will be missed by “Sweet-P,” her daughter Debbie’s Dog whom she adored.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, and a celebration of her life will be held afterwards.
