Marty Edward Whittington, 79, peacefully passed on to be with his Lord and Savior on October 18th 2025 at Conway Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 5th 1946 in Brunswick Maryland to Carl Edward Whittington and Lillian Mazzilia Brown. He had a brother, recently deceased, Michael Whittington, and 2 sisters Carla Brown and Tanya Pascone. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy Whittington. He had two daughters Lia Woodruff and Loren Crispell and two step daughters Brenda Kroboth and Julie Morgan. He was preceded to death by his stepson James Gumm Jr in 2021. He was blessed with five grandsons Brent, Brody, Kade, Paul and Matt. Loving on them, playing with them and watching them grow brought him the greatest of joy.
He was drafted in 1964 to Vietnam where he served 3 years in the Navy. He then went on to work on the railroad and retired from the postal service after 35 years where he had become an avid stamp collector. He was a dedicated husband and father and also a faithful Christian. He served in the church for many years as greeter and usher and shared God's love and his faith to everyone he met. He was the comedian of the crowd and always made everyone laugh. He loved to country line dance and couples dance with his wife. In his later years he enjoyed playing bingo. His favorite pastime was being at the beach looking for sharks' teeth. His love and funny memories will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
A celebration of life will take place in early summer of 2026, date to be announced.
