Marsh Hubert Myers, Jr., died unexpectedly November 2, 2021 at home in Myrtle Beach, his wife of 67 years by his side.
Marsh was born in Camden, South Carolina on August 15, 1934 to Marsh H. Myers, Sr. and Annie Madge Weldon. His family moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he grew up.
He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Lynn; and his son, Byron Russell “Chip.”
He graduated high school at Baltimore City College. He met the love of his life at Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. They were married on June 6, 1954 at Base Chapel in Parris Island, South Carolina by Chaplin P. W. Dickman. During his service in the USMC Band where he served tours in Parris Island, South Carolina, Okinawa, Japan, and Cherry Point, North Carolina. When he returned home from overseas he graduated with a BA degree from Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. He continued his education at Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia earning a MA degree.
In 1976 he moved to Myrtle Beach for employment at USC Coastal Carolina as Registrar & Director of Admissions.
Mr. Myers is survived by his wife, Barbara and his sons, Marsh III and wife Joann, Barry and wife Robbin, Blair and his Nicole, and Brooks.
A Memorial will at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at St. Philip Lutheran Church in Myrtle Beach, SC. Inurnment will follow at the church columbarium.
