With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life so beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Marie Rose Settle, known to everyone simply and lovingly as Nanny.
Nanny was the heart of our family, a steady source of warmth, wisdom, and unconditional love. Her home was always open, her kitchen always welcoming, and her hugs always exactly what you needed. She had a special way of making each person feel seen, valued, and cherished.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, often spending quiet afternoons doing word searches or knitting blankets with loving hands.. each stitch made with care, many of them gifted to family and friends as a warm reminder of her love. Those blankets, like her embrace, brought comfort that will last for generations.
She filled our lives with laughter, stories, traditions, and countless sweet memories. Whether it was family gatherings, talks around the table, or cheering us on in life’s biggest and smallest moments, Nanny was always there.
To her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she was not just a mother and grandmother but a best friend, safe place, and biggest supporter. Being called “Nanny” was her greatest joy and proudest title.
Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort knowing her legacy lives on in the lessons she taught us — to love deeply, care for one another, and treasure time together.
She will be forever missed, forever loved, and forever our Nanny.
A Celebration of Life will be from 12:00 - 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 14, 2026, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, Myrtle Beach.
