Linwood Fitzgerald Obituary

Linwood “Lindy” Grady Fitzgerald, 74, died Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at home. He was born to the late Luther Clarence and Ann Hudson Fitzgerald on March 23, 1948 in Danville, Virginia. He was a 1966 graduate of Camden Military Academy and a 1971 graduate of the University of North Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Air Force Reserves for six years. He was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church in Taylors, South Carolina.

Lindy was predeceased by his fraternal grandparents Ernest Grady and Lucy Harrison Fitzgerald of Sandy Springs, Georgia, his maternal grandparents Hunter Hudson and Virgie Faulks of Danville, Virginia and his father and mother-in-law John David and Irene Forrester Conner of Greer, South Carolina.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Janette, their daughter and light of his life, Ashlee, and Penny and Biscuit, his wiener dogs and constant companions. Also surviving are extended family members Juanita Barnett, sister-in-law; James Conner, brother-in-law; Dean Conner (Valarie), brother-in-law and several special nieces and nephews.

Lindy never met a stranger. His friendly and outgoing personality proved very useful in his two favorite business ventures. He was the owner and operator of Lindy’s Ball and Cue and co-owner of Hawaiian Rumble Miniature Golf. He worked very hard to ensure that all patrons would have a “big time”! He was also a sports enthusiast, especially golf, as evidenced by his two hole-in- one trophies and by his many lifelong friends he referred to as his golf buddies.

The family would like to express their eternal gratitude to Nurse Karen, Padre Kimble, and Social Worker Dee for the compassionate care they gave Lindy.

A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday November 19th, 2022 at the McMillan-Small Funeral Home, 910 67th Avenue North, Myrtle Beach South Carolina, conducted by Reverend Thomas Riddle and Chaplain Kimble Knight. Visitation will be held 3:00-3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. To honor one of Lindy’s final requests, the family asks that all attendees please wear jeans if possible. The family invites all who loved Lindy to gather at their home following the service for food and fellowship.
