In memoriam of Linda Bolen Harrington, aged 75, of Garden City, South Carolina, she peacefully departed on January 26, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on August 13, 1948, in humble origins in Eupora, Mississippi, Linda embodied the quintessence of a Southern lady, gracefully embracing timeless traditions.
Her heart, brimming with love, extended to her husband, children, three cherished grandchildren, and her sister illuminating every moment with a radiant glow. Linda initiated her professional journey in the Divine Sporting Goods business office, but her vision expanded to meet the needs of South Carolina. Over two decades, she operated the pioneering maternity clothing store, Maternity World, a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit.
In collaboration with her husband, Mike, Linda co-founded Harrington Construction Co. Inc. Their joint efforts flourished into a 44-year family business along the Grand Strand that their son successfully runs today. Beyond familial accomplishments, Linda took immense pride in her community contributions. Her altruistic spirit manifested in volunteering at Ocean View Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher for kindergarten classes, and dedicating 20 years to the Myrtle Beach Pilot Club, where she twice held the esteemed position of president.
Linda's commitment to community service was further evident in her initiative to fundraise for the first beach wheelchairs in Myrtle Beach, leaving an enduring mark on accessibility. An innate decorator and extraordinary party planner, Linda infused infectious joy into every gathering, illuminating any room with her presence. Her memory will forever be a wellspring of inspiration.
Survived by her devoted husband, Mike Harrington, and her children, Jeff Harrington (Dee Dee) of Myrtle Beach, Valerie Hensley (Mike) of Murrells Inlet, along with grandchildren, Brooke, Brandon, and Noah. Linda also leaves behind her sister, Sarah Carson, of Florida, sister-in-law, Sandy Harrington and brother-in-law, Ronnie Harrington, and numerous adoring nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Jewell Gray of Mount Ulla, North Carolina.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 12:30-1:45 PM at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Funeral services will be 2PM Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home with Dr. J. Kirk Lawton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Southern Palms Memorial Gardens in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
