Lewis “Cleveland” Soles peacefully passed away on November 20, 2024, at the age of 73. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was defined by hard work, selflessness, and a steadfast faith in God.
Born on July 21, 1951, Cleveland dedicated himself to building a life that supported and uplifted those he loved. He gave generously and quietly, never seeking recognition or expecting anything in return. Though a man of few words, his thoughtful and compassionate nature spoke volumes. Cleveland found joy in life’s simplest moments and treasured time spent with family and friends. His unwavering faith guided him through life, and he lived as a true example of God’s love, grace, and humility.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Nan Soles; his children, Terrie Holden (Bill), Abby Soles, Jim Williams (Brenda), Kevin Williams (Leslie), and Cathie Rhodes (Robert); and his grandchildren, Beth Thacher (Shawn), Christi Murray, Hannah Jones (Carson), Kaitlyn Williams, Rachael Greer (Jon), Emily Cunningham (Bruce), Dakota Holden (Olivia), Amber Sellers (Harley), Ella Williams, Zander Holden, Rebecca Rhodes, Kaleigh Williams, Rylie Rhodes, along with 14 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters, Wanda Faulk (Gerald), Cindy Hilburn (Ricky), and Julie Timmons (Donald), who will forever cherish his strength, kindness, and love.
Cleveland was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Bernice Soles, and his children, Lewis Reginald Soles and Laura Williams.
The family will accept guests at McMillan Small Funeral Home on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. A celebration of Cleveland’s life will take place on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at 2:00pm at the Grand Strand Church of Christ with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Though his family feels the weight of his absence, they find peace in knowing he has been welcomed into the arms of the Lord and look forward to reuniting with him one day.
