Leslie Gottardi, 84, passed away Friday at Indigo Memory Care Carolina Forest, Myrtle Beach, SC. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Lynn, two brothers, Robert Gottardi, Pittsburgh, PA and Major General Larry Gottardi ( Jane) of Peachtree, GA.
He is also survived by three step-children, Brian, Chris and Heidi, seven grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was a lifelong educator, employed until retirement at Indiana (PA) Area School District and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
He had the honor of flying as a copilot for Arnold Palmer and was the educational Coordinator for Fred Rogers of Mister Rogers Neighborhood (WQED).
Les had a special love for his grandchildren and was happiest when surrounded by family. He also had a soft spot for his dogs, whose companionship and loyalty brought him comfort and joy throughout the years.
He was a devoted catholic taking great solace saying his daily rosary.
Les is predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Kathryn Gottardi of Indiana, PA and a sister, Dr. Constance Gottardi of Coreopolis, PA.
Special thanks to Donna McKinney, caregiver, for her compassion and friendship, Sunshine Hospice and Indigo Memory Care, for their kind regard in Les's final days.
As per his request there will be no services. Final inurnment for his cremains will be with his parents in Indiana, PA. To honor Les, the family requests donations to the charity of one's choice.
