Larry David Wood, Sr.

Larry David Wood, Sr. 76, of North Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023, at his residence.

Larry was born on November 14, 1946, in Roanoke, VA, son of the late Maynard Oscar Wood and Ruth Elizabeth Wood. He was a graduate of William Fleming High School in Roanoke, VA and attended Virginia Western Community College.  Larry served in the United States Navy during Vietnam from 1966-1970, after military service he was employed for 32 years by General Electric where he retired in 2002. He resided in Roanoke and Troutville, VA before retiring to Little River, SC. Larry later made his home in North Myrtle Beach with his wife.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Anne Fisher-Wood of 9 years; his daughter, Lisa Dawn Canney (Joshua Hutchins) of Charleston, SC, her daughters, Megan of Aiken, SC, Peyton (McLain Poole), and Ashlyn Canney and their father John Canney of Myrtle Beach; his son Larry David Wood, Jr., his daughters, Cadence and Madison and their mother, Shellie Wood of Roanoke, VA; his stepson, James Bradford Fisher and his wife, Kimberly, their daughter, McKinley of Portland, OR; and his brother, Alan Ray Wood of Troutville, VA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie Louise Wood of 38 years and his sister, Bonnie Durling.

Memorial service will be held on the beach, November 26th, 2023, at 10:00 AM, 201 S. Ocean Blvd., North Myrtle Beach, SC, 29582, in front of Ocean Bay Club.  The family requests everyone attending to bring a beach chair.
