Laine Clark, Sr. Obituary

Laine O. C. Clark, Sr., 59, of Conway, SC passed away October 2, 2021 in Myrtle Beach, SC.  Born in Bennington, Georgia, he was a son of the late Crawford E. and Eloise Z. (Ritch) Clark.

Laine led an exemplary life. He enlisted in the Army at the age of 18 and stepped forward to fight for his country, not once but twice. After leaving the armed forces, he was fiercely devoted to his wife and family.

He was an amazing husband. Always taking time to have those special moments with his wife. Like stealing a kiss under the street light, when they were teenagers, or belting out a romantic love song while they swayed along. They had an unbreakable bond, stemming from their high school sweetheart years. Truly a love like no other.
He was without a doubt, the best father anyone could ever ask for. Whether he was helping with school work or teaching practical skills, when his children were young. Which eventually turned into him helping them fix things in their houses and giving them strategic financial advice as they got older. He was always there for them no matter what, day or night, no matter how far.

The day he became a Popí, there was a light that shined through his entire being, from that time on. He adored his two grandsons immensely. They were and will always be his two greatest achievements in life. There was nothing he would not do for them. From playing basketball, swimming, flying kites, or just overall supporting them through all things. But his favorite pastime with them, was undoubtedly, playing Santa Claus to keep the magic in their eyes.

Laine did it all, whether it be Civil Air Patrol, Destination Imagination, coaching soccer, civil war reenacting, becoming a youth director, being a choir member, and having a blast at bingo. He was also what you would call a Jack of all trades. From cutting hair to cutting grass, plumbing to electrical, building houses to being a substitute teacher, driving a cab to driving a fork lift. There was honestly nothing Laine could not do.

Thanks to all of his many talents and abilities, he touched a lot of peoples lives and made a lasting impact on every single one of them. Laine never met a stranger, he was a friend to everyone he met. He would give anyone the shirt off of his back if he knew they needed it. Many people counted on him and he never disappointed.
The hole we have in our hearts will never be filled by the loss of such an amazing man.
