Kathryn Gayle (Roberts) Smyers

K. Gayle Roberts (74), passed away January 18th at home with her husband by her side after a long battle with cancer.

Gayle, the daughter of the late H. Tom Roberts and the late Ruth Stewart Roberts, was born December 4, 1948 in Florence, SC and grew up on the family farm in Green Sea. She was a graduate of Fairfax Hall in Waynesboro, VA and the University of South Carolina, now Coastal, where she received her nursing degree. After 36 years of giving excellent care to her patients, she retired to follow other passions.

Married to Richard for 27 years, they traveled the world together. Exploring new places as often as possible. Having grown up with sand in her shoes, she loved dancing at the OD Pavilion and her favorite spots on Main Street in NMB. She found pleasure in gardening and poured her heart into making her yard a beautiful space. Among all of these things, she loved spending time with her daughter and husband the most.

Surviving are: her husband, Richard S. Smyers, precious daughter, Shannon Bell (Scott Ware), sister, Tommie Roberts Nobles (Melvin), step-daughter, Katie Smyers Cishek (George), step-son, Jon Smyers (Frances Stone), Nephew, Kirk Nobles (Chad Tingen), Niece, Debbie Nobles Danford (Jim), grand nieces, Jaymie Danford (Jacob Kay) & Kelsey Danford, grandchildren, Davis Cishek & Liam Cishek.

Gayle, a good Christian lady, is now enjoying the fruits of her labor.

The family will receive friends, Friday, February 3, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, 910 67th Ave N., Myrtle Beach, SC.   A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Trinity Church, 3000 N. Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC.
