Julia “Judy” Chandler Rodman, 83, of Myrtle Beach passed away April 6, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born January 20, 1942, in Maysville, GA a daughter to Harold and Allene Chandler. She attended Commerce High School and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in home economics. She was an Alpha Xi Delta sorority alum.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Dr. William “Bill” Rodman. She leaves behind two Daughters, Valerie Rodman Hoss (husband Michael) and Heather Rodman Farthing, her sister Sallie Armstrong, brother-in-law Jim, and brother Billy Chandler and sister-in-law Leann. She enjoyed being Mimi to her two grandchildren Madeleine and Adam Hoss. She loved her family, her cats, the Atlanta Braves, and The Georgia Bulldogs.
Judy loved Myrtle Beach and was on City Council from 1995-1998 and 1998-2005. She was recently recognized by the current City Council for her 30 years of service to Myrtle Beach, including her work with the Grand Strand Senior Center, the Grand Strand Humane Society, the American Heart Association, the Myrtle Beach Hotel Board and the South Carolina Hall of Fame. She was a long-time member of the Chicory Rotary Club. While on City Council, Judy was instrumental in the creation of Market Common and the Myrtle Beach Convention Center and Hotel. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Myrtle Beach.
A memorial service will be held April 11, 2025, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 11 AM with Dr. John Brearley presiding. The family will greet friend at the funeral home after the service.
