In Loving Memory of Judith (Judy) Ann Sullivan
With heavy hearts, we faithfully honor the life of Judith (Judy) Ann Sullivan, who passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Born in Gary, Indiana, on February 5, 1941, to William and Irene Friant. Judy built a life defined by warmth, compassion, and a quiet strength that touched everyone she met. She believed in the power of laughter, the importance of family, and the beauty of everyday moments.
Judy and Wayne's love story began at Calumet High School in 1955. Judy was a cheerleader, and Wayne was a basketball player. They married in 1960, and what started in high school became a lifelong partnership built on love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Theirs was a quiet, enduring love - the kind captured simply in the words: "I'm forever yours...faithfully." They spent 35 years in Northern Virginia, where Judy raised her family and touched countless lives with her gentle spirit and generous heart. In 2000, she and Wayne retired to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, embracing the coastal calm with the same grace Judy brought to every chapter of her life.
One of Judy's greatest passions was working with individuals with intellectual and developmental challenges. She gave selflessly of her time and resources to advocate for, uplift, and support those often overlooked by society. Her unwavering belief in the dignity and potential of every person left a lasting imprint on all who witnessed her kindness.
She was predeceased by her loving parents, William and Irene Friant; her brothers Gene, William, and Robert; and her only sister, Janet. She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Wayne; her brother Richard Friant, her two daughters, Jodi Sullivan and Julie (John) Flevarakis; her cherished grandchildren, Maria (Thomas) Blakley III, John (Amy) Flevarakis Jr., Jenna (Colin) Gates, Jacob (Hali) Sullivan, Jessica (Brock) Cook, and Justin (Kristi) Flevarakis; seven great-grandchildren and two little ones soon to join the family, and several beloved nieces and nephews who were all touched by her love throughout their lives.
Judy's legacy lives on in every life she brightened, in each quiet act of generosity, and in the boundless love shared among the family she so fiercely adored and protected, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will forever guide and inspire all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, June 26, at 2:00 pm at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, 910 67th Ave N., Myrtle Beach, SC 29572. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to The Lambert Eaton LEMS Family Association or your favorite charity in her honor.
