John Wesley Cribb Jr., a renowned musician, beloved guitar teacher, and cherished friend, passed away on November 30, 2024 at the age of 75.
Born on June 27, 1949, John graduated from Lillington High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force. His love of music led him to become a talented guitarist and influential figure in the local music scene.
As the owner and operator of Ocean Music, John played a pivotal role in shaping the sound of the group Alabama. His passion for music education inspired countless students, and his legacy will continue to resonate through the lives he touched.
John’s love for classic cars led him to restore and sell several Austin Healey classic cars to prominent individuals in the Myrtle Beach area.
He was also an accomplished martial artist, holding a 9th degree black belt.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Kathleen; daughter, Laura Longo; brothers, Paul Cribb and family, Kenneth Cribb and family, Buddy Cribb and family, Randy Ivey and family, David Ivey and family; sisters Janice, Jennell and Juanita of Dunn, NC. John was also blessed with 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren that brought him great pride.
One of John’s favorite songs, “You Are My Sunshine,” brought him immense joy and comfort throughout his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a music education charity of your choice, a cause close to John’s heart.
A celebration of John’s life will be announced in the future. Friends and family are invited to share their favorite stories of John’s life at that time.
