John Lewis Walters, 77, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026.
Born 7/26/49 to Charles and Elsie Walters in Manhattan, NY. Brother to Frank, Judy, Nancy, Diane, and Denise.
They moved to Greenlawn, NY, where, at the young age of 13 he met his future bride of 56 years, Carol (later known as Carol Jean).
As husband and wife, they welcomed 4 children, Jill (husband Gerard), Cheri (husband Don), Dave (wife Lori), and Christine, in their home in Setauket, NY. They would relocate to Myrtle Beach, SC, in 2013 and consider that home at the time of his passing.
John lived a life loving music and playing guitar. The family often sat around listening to him sing and play. He also loved baseball, loved being a coach, and watching games - Let’s Go Mets!
As he got older, he developed a love of golf and played as often as he could. He enjoyed lessons often, always trying to perfect his game. He was always a hardworking man at everything he did.
His greatest achievements were always his family. He adored his wife Carol Jean, being a Dad to his 4 children, being a father-in-law, being a Papa to his 13 grandchildren (Christian, Hayley (Jim), Sean, Victoria (Ryan), Abigail, Logan, Julia, Jeremy, Holden, Sam, Willow, Zoe, and Kai), and a great-Papa to his great-granddaughter (Ellie).
He had a deep and unwavering faith. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and a proud altar server at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. Despite the many health struggles he faced throughout his life, he never lost that faith. He continued to show strength, love, and perseverance, always cherishing the time he had with his family and those he loved, confident in God’s plan.
He was loved by all, and our loss is profound. His memory will live on in the music he played, the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and, most of all, in the family he loved so deeply.
He will be forever loved and forever missed.
