In Loving Memory of John C. Sloan

John Christopher Sloan passed away surrounded by immediate family on Monday, July 7, 2025. John lived a life full of love, generosity, and quiet strength. John was born on September 8, 1938, in Fine, NY. His parents were the late Bernard E. and Ina Irene (Morehouse) Sloan, Sr.  John attended school and graduated from Edwards Central School, NY. 

Mr. Sloan served in the United States Air Force from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1961. He married Donna Marie O'Leary of Hammond, NY on May 29, 1964, and together they built a beautiful life and family, raising three sons and welcoming nine grandchildren. After the military, John worked at St. Joe Mine in Gouverneur, NY as a diesel mechanic.  Outside of work, John loved coaching his sons in baseball and golfing with his friends. His survivors include his wife Donna Sloan; three sons, Slade Sloan (m. Sherry Sloan) of Morrisville, NC, Shaun Sloan (m. Theresa Sloan) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Scott Sloan (m. Jennifer Sloan) of Raleigh, NC; one brother, Robert Sloan; four sisters, Beverly Thomas, Marilyn Mackin, Janet Easton, and Rita Bukowski, and nine grandchildren. A celebration of John’s life will be held on July 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, 1000 Hwy 544. Conway, SC 29526. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend. 

The family extends heartfelt thanks to all of his friends for their support and compassion during this time.
