John French, III Obituary

John Emmett French, III unexpectedly entered into eternal rest on May 14, 2023 at his home in Waynesboro, Virginia. 

Johnny was born to the late John Emmett French, II and Suzann (Burns) Gutheil and raised in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

He began his career as a firefighter and paramedic.  He was a lifetime member of the Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad, where he trained others in water rescue.  He worked as an emergency room nurse for over 30 years, most recently retiring from the University of Virginia ER.  He volunteered for the Augusta County Free Clinic for 15 years and enjoyed serving on numerous medical mission trips to Central America.  He was a renaissance man who humbly used his many talents to help anyone in need.

He is preceded in death by his father John, his brother David French, and his sister Lynne French.

He is survived by his best friend and loving wife Paige, his mother Suzann, his two children Hannah (Westley) Muckenfuss and Hunter French (Leah Wagner), and his two grandsons Burns and Cannon Muckenfuss.  

There will be a celebration of life on Thursday May 18th, 2023 - service at 5PM, visitation until 8PM - at the family’s home at 87 Sunnyfield Lane Waynesboro, Virginia.

A graveside service in Myrtle Beach will be 3:00 PM, Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery.  The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery..
