John E. "Jack" Patterson

John Earle Patterson (Jack) passed away peacefully on January 20th, 2023.

Jack, the son of the late Ibra Eugene Patterson and the late Janie Agnes Garrett Patterson, was born December 10th, 1930, in Walhalla, SC where he met his wife, Jeanne Rogers Patterson.

Jack was married to Jeanne for 51 years until her passing and they had a wonderful life filled with love. They traveled and entertained often. He had many professions throughout his life and made success look easy, but simply considered himself “lucky” in his business dealings. Jack was a stranger to no one and found great purpose in helping others, sharing in their successes, and especially giving advice.

Jack loved life and was determined to do everything, including dying his way. At 92, going on 93, Pastor David baptized Jack in the ocean and he finally got his own apartment after convincing his daughters he was old enough to move out. Jack was a one-of-a-kind, backyard tomato gardener, sous-chef specializing in perfectly petite chopping, avid reader of mystery and western books, expert card player that always won, and all-around great guy.

Jack is survived and missed by his loving daughters Adrina Patterson and Marsha Johnson, his favorite son-in-law, Paul Johnson, wonderful grandchildren; Leslie Johnson-Sheehan, Michelle Suddeth, Paul Wesley (Wes) Johnson and wife, Lauren Johnson, Neba Johnson, Precious great grandchildren; Jack, Charlie, Trip, and Cora.

His memory lives on with his sister, Beverly Vickery and her husband Jerry Vickery, sister-in-law, Jerry Ann Crenshaw Patterson, nieces and nephews; Sara, Joanna, Jim, Chris, and Rick.

A celebration of life will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, January 30th, 2023, at Ocean View Church, 7300 N Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572. There will be an informal reception following the services at the church.
